Defamation Suit Resolved
A high-profile defamation suit has been resolved between Guardian Newspapers Nigeria Limited and Mr. Attah John Onoja, a senior officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The suit was instituted by Onoja, Commander of the Mining Marshals, over a report titled “Community Alleges Involvement of Mining Marshals in Illegal Mining” published on June 23, 2025. Onoja described the story as false and defamatory.
