Canada's tourism sector has generated a record-breaking $59 billion in revenue between May and August, a six per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
The increase is driven by strong domestic and international travellers, with domestic tourism up seven per cent and revenue from international travellers increasing by 10 per cent, particularly from overseas markets.
International events, such as the G7 in Kananaskis Country, Alberta, also contributed to the surge in tourism.
Most of the revenue was the result of Canadians choosing to spend their travel dollars within the country.
