Single Antivenom Protects Against Multiple Snakebites

Researchers have developed a potent antivenom using antibodies from an alpaca and a llama immunized with snake venoms.

The antivenom has been shown to neutralize venom from some of the world's most venomous snakes, including the black mamba, one of Africa's most deadly venomous snakes.

The treatment conferred protection against toxins from 17 African snake species and reduced skin damage caused by venoms.

Author's summary: New antivenom protects against 17 snakebites.
