The Sopranos' Alternative Main Theme Song
The Sopranos has a nearly perfect opening title sequence, featuring Tony Soprano driving through New Jersey, accompanied by the soulful techno track "Woke Up This Morning" by Alabama 3.
However, creator David Chase initially considered a different song, which would have explicitly laid out the show's themes, but ultimately would have been a poor choice.
The song was by Elvis Costello, an undisputed master of popular music.
Luckily, Chase decided against it, opting for the more subtle and fitting "Woke Up This Morning" instead.
