Malawi Secures $80 Million for Food Support
Malawi's Minister of Finance, Joseph Mwanamveka, announced that his ministry has secured $80 million (K150 billion) to support the procurement and logistics of maize during the lean period.
Government and the people of Malawi are grateful for the timely assistance which will help to feed hungry people.
- United States of America: $17.5 million
- Norway: $4.5 million
- British Government: $5.3 million
- Japan: $3.7 million
- Republic of Ireland and Switzerland also contributed to the funding
The World Bank provided $45 million of the total funding.
