The Department of Homeland Security is overhauling the leadership of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to frustration over deportation targets.

As many as 12 field directors within ICE are being replaced, with many being reassigned and some replaced by senior agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The move comes as ICE is averaging around 1,100 arrests daily, far below the target of 3,000 undocumented immigrants per day set earlier this year.
