Airports are gearing up for the holiday season amidst the ongoing government shutdown, which may impact travel.
Lauren Gonzales, Santa Barbara Airport Marketing Supervisor, notes that larger airports are more likely to feel the effects of the shutdown.
For example, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) experienced temporary groundings of flights from Oakland to LA on Sunday due to staffing shortages.
"We really haven't seen much impact on operations at SBA luckily but we are keeping in close contact with our Federal partners to be in touch on any changes that they see on their end,"
said Gonzales. However, a government worker, who chose to remain anonymous, reported being delayed due to issues at other airports.
Airports like Santa Barbara's are closely monitoring the situation to minimize disruptions to holiday travel.
