Annual Old Town Gazebo 'Day of the Dead' Event Cancelled
The Día de Muertos Festival of Altars, organized by the Somos Medicina Collective since 2019, has been cancelled due to safety concerns.
Organizers stated,
“We feel that we cannot bring our people together safely at this time,”citing fears over the targeting of their community.
The event, which featured food, music, dance, face painting, and ofrendas honoring ancestors and loved ones, was scheduled to take place on November 2.
