Local Volunteers Support Umatilla Robotics Event
Community members in Umatilla came together to make an off-season robotics event possible, showcasing local support for science and technology programs.
The Uplift Challenge, held on October 10-11 at Columbia Vista Intermediate, featured the 2024 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Competition game, "Reefscape."
The event was sponsored by Amazon Web Services through a ChangeX grant and brought together teams from across Oregon and Washington.
From setting up the competition field to serving warm meals, community volunteers helped ensure the weekend’s event was a success for every student involved.
The event relied entirely on a large volunteer effort, highlighting the importance of community support for science and technology programs.
