Illinois Waterfowl Seasons and Zone Lines to be Reset
Since 2011, Illinois has had four waterfowl hunting zones, but this is set to change.
Illinois wildlife managers plan to eliminate the fourth waterfowl hunting zone starting next year and revert to a three-zone format.
A split season and rearrangement of duck season dates are also being considered.
The changes come after hunters shared their opinions, which the DNR credits as the reason for the proposed changes to the 2026-2030 season framework.
However, some hunters have expressed concern over the changes, causing the agency to reconsider.
No official statement has been made by the DNR regarding the concerns of the hunters.
The new format is expected to be implemented starting next year.
