Brisbane's art world is mourning the loss of two significant contributors, William Robinson and Lawrence Daws.
Mr Robinson, a practicing Catholic, was a renowned Australian artist who died on August 26 at 89. He won the Archibald Prize for portraiture twice: first in 1987 for Equestrian self portrait, then in 1995 for Self-portrait with stunned mullet.
Mr Daws, who contributed to St Stephen's Cathedral in Brisbane, died on October 8 at 98. He was also one of Australia's top artists.
Fr Tom Elich, a retired priest, met Mr Daws during the 1989 renovations of St Stephen's Cathedral, when he was commissioned to create the Stations of the Cross.
