A collaboration agreement has been signed between Hawaii and Japan's largest power generation company, JERA Co. Inc., to help the state achieve its clean energy and decarbonization objectives.
During a week-long trip to Japan, Governor Josh Green and over a dozen state government officials, including lawmakers, met with JERA representatives, culminating in the signing of a strategic partnering agreement on October 6.
JERA has committed to eliminating carbon dioxide emissions from its domestic and international operations by 2050 through the use of renewable energy, greener fuels, and zero-emission thermal power.
The partnership aims to establish a framework for collaboration, supporting Hawaii's clean energy goals.
