Vermont Republican State Senator Faces Calls to Resign
A Vermont Republican state senator is under pressure to resign after a group chat revealed racist and antisemitic language used by him and his wife.
Samuel Douglass, 27, a first-term state senator, was involved in a text chat with fellow young Republicans from four states, including Vermont, as reported by Politico.
The hateful statements made in this group chat are disgusting and unacceptable.
Vermont Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican, called on Douglass to resign on Tuesday evening, following the leak of the group chat.
