Sweden's Migration Agency pledges 30-day processing time for PhD students
The Swedish Migration Agency has set a new 30-day target for concluding residency permit applications from foreign PhD students and their dependents.
This move aims to provide better service for higher education, as ordered by Sweden's government to shorten processing times and increase the proportion of decisions made within the statutory time frame.
The new model is based on a similar process for work permits introduced in 2024, which led to significantly reduced processing times.
The agency hopes this will mean better service for higher education.
