Virtual Cancer Screening Clinic Expands to Vancouver Island
CanScreen, a virtual cancer-screening clinic, has expanded to all of Vancouver Island, providing access to cancer screenings for patients without a family doctor.
The clinic, started by two doctors in Victoria in 2023, allows patients to book a test on www.canscreenbc.com. Results are then sent to Dr. Stuart Bax, who reports the findings to the patient and schedules a follow-up with a clinician in Port Alberni, Comox, or Nanaimo if needed.
According to Dr. Stuart Bax, the virtual clinic was started to address the challenges of booking screenings without a family doctor.
Patients can now access cancer screenings remotely, improving healthcare accessibility on the island.
