Geneva, along with the rest of the country, is preparing for future crises with a new network of emergency meeting points, known as PRUs.
Since January, each municipality has had at least one such site, usually a school or community hall, where residents can gather in the event of a major incident like flooding, power failure, or communication breakdown.
In the event of a major disaster, the centres will provide information and emergency supplies if necessary, and will be open 24 hours a day, but are not designed for overnight stays.
