People of all ages from across Alaska gathered at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage for the 42nd annual Elders and Youth Conference.
The conference, described as "a gathering that centers elders and youth in Native ways of knowing and being," aims to bridge the gap between generations.
"This gathering is like a bridge between the elders and youth,"
said Jocelyn Pili, who is leading a group of students from the North Slope Borough. Pili emphasized the importance of language and cultural connection, noting that the conference highlights a specific language each year.
Pili believes it is essential to provide a space for elders and youth to connect and share their culture.
