The concept of an environmentally friendly AI data center is challenging due to energy requirements.
In southwest Wyoming, a new AI data center from Prometheus Hyperscale is being planned, amidst rolling foothills and yellow flowers.
"I spent most of my summers in Wyoming riding north of the interstate here, moving cattle,"
said Trenton Thornock, founder and CEO of Prometheus, whose family has been ranchers on this land for six generations.
Thornock is exploring ways to power the data center, including measuring sunlight for potential solar panels, which could attract big tech customers like Google, Meta, or OpenAI.
