Suit Challenges New Oregon Behavioral Health Siting Law

Neighboring landowners are attempting to block the construction of PeaceHealth's behavioral health hospital and a Lane County mental health crisis center.

Property owners have filed a lawsuit to stop the building of a $35 million Lane County mental health crisis center and a 96-bed behavioral health hospital, known as Timber Springs, launched by PeaceHealth.

Expanded behavioral health care is greatly needed in Oregon, and in particular Lane County.

The suit challenges the constitutionality of recent Oregon legislation aimed at changing civil commitment criteria and fast-tracking the siting of behavioral health facilities.
