Supreme Court denies Alex Jones' appeal, upholds $1.4B Sandy Hook defamation ruling

Supreme Court Denies Alex Jones' Appeal

The Supreme Court rejected an appeal from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, upholding the $1.4 billion judgment against him.

Alex Jones, the Infowars host, had argued that a judge was wrong to find him liable for defamation and infliction of emotional distress without holding a trial based on the merits of allegations submitted by relatives of victims of the shooting.

The case stems from Jones' description of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting as a hoax staged by crisis actors. The shooting killed 20 first graders and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut.

The justices issued the order without asking the families of the Sandy Hook victims to respond to the appeal made by Jones, and did not comment on the order.

"The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an appeal from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, leaving in place the $1.4 billion judgment against him."

Author's summary: Court upholds $1.4B judgment against Alex Jones.
