‘They abducted me’: Well-known Irish author speaks out on Israeli detention

Irish Author Speaks Out on Israeli Detention

A young Irish woman, author Naoise Dolan, has shared her experience of being detained by Israeli forces.

Dolan was intercepted by Israeli forces while on a flotilla delivering aid on October 8.

They beat people, they gave people black eyes. They pulled people by their hair.

Upon her return to Ireland, Dolan described the conditions of her detention, including a giant Israeli flag and a poster with an image of a road in Gaza that had been rendered completely rubble.

The two things that saddened and horrified me the most... a giant Israeli flag... and beneath it an even bigger poster with an image of a road in Gaza that had been rendered completely rubble by them and then a caption that said in Arabic that read ‘the new Gaza’.

Dolan also described a small playground for children in an Israeli immigration prison that had barbed wire on the ceiling.

Author's summary: Irish author Naoise Dolan shares her experience.
