The St Patricks Plains wind project in Tasmania has faced its fifth delay in receiving a decision on whether it requires approval under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
The project, initially designed for 67 turbines, has been scaled back to 47 turbines with a capacity of 291 megawatts (MW). It is proposed for a site in Tasmania's Central Highlands.
A Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water spokesperson stated that the delays were requested by the project developer, Ark Energy. The new deadline for a decision is November 28.
Ark Energy acquired the project in 2022 from Epuron, adding to the already lengthy delays under the EPBC Act, which began in 2019.
No comment has been received from Ark Energy.
