CapeNature sounds allarm for Africa’s endangered penguins

African Penguins Under Threat

The African Penguin, an iconic South African seabird, is now listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Conservation experts warn that without urgent intervention, the species could disappear by 2035.

Penguin Palooza Event

CapeNature and SANCCOB will host the annual Penguin Palooza event at Stony Point Nature Reserve on November 8, starting at 10am.

The African Penguin population in South Africa has fallen to fewer than 8,750 breeding pairs, shrinking by roughly 8% each year.

CapeNature and partners are working to address this crisis.
