When planning to rent a car on holiday, a valid Malaysian driving licence is often sufficient.
Usually, a printed copy of the licence from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) is required by car rental counters overseas.
However, some countries may also require an International Driving Permit (IDP), which translates the licence into other languages and can be applied for from JPJ or the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM).
Malaysians can drive in Singapore using their domestic driving licence, as long as it's valid and in English, without needing an IDP.
Good news for those planning a JB or Sentosa getaway.
