Ammonia Leak at Factory Prompts Shelter-in-Place Order
An ammonia leak at Scoular Factory led to a shelter-in-place order for Burlington residents early Monday morning.
The Burlington Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Scoular, a global supply chain company, at 11 p.m. due to a large industrial refrigeration unit issue.
Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a strong chemical odor. Through their investigation, it was determined that there was an ammonia leak inside the facility.
