Giant pacer Deny Everything secures his ninth career victory in strong Ascot Park performance

Giant pacer’s confidence run turns into victory

Nine-year-old pacer Deny Everything, a son of A Rocknroll Dance, turned what was supposed to be a simple confidence-building outing into a winning performance in the Peter Heyrick Memorial Mobile Pace at Ascot Park. Driven by Kirstin Green, the big gelding produced a powerful late run to claim his ninth career victory.

Race unfolding and tactics

Starting from the outside of the front line, Deny Everything dropped back early while Sky Patrol worked to the lead and set a strong tempo. As much of the field moved away from the inside, Green was able to save ground by following the pegs, improving to four back on the inside before the pace took its toll on some rivals.

Blair Orange kept the speed genuine with Sky Patrol, with Step It Up A Notch applying pressure on the outside, ensuring there were no easy mid-race sections. Green, who had previously driven Deny Everything and knew his finishing speed, waited for gaps to appear before easing off the inside when Munroe’s Mate began to weaken.

Strong finish and winning margin

Under a vigorous drive in the home straight, Deny Everything swept past the tiring leaders, finishing with his ears pricked as he ran down a game Sky Patrol. Herb closed late to take third, half a length behind the runner-up, while Deny Everything’s final surge secured a one-length winning margin.

The gelding recorded a smart time of 2:38.0 for the 2200-metre mobile, equating to a mile rate of 1:55.5. The performance underlined that, despite his age and previous setbacks, he still has the speed and stamina to match solid race tempos.

Career record and setbacks

This success was the ninth win of Deny Everything’s career from 47 starts, highlighting his consistency when sound. He began his racing journey with trainer Mark Jones, who prepared him to win seven races and produced a standout five-year-old season in which he claimed four wins from six starts, suggesting top-level potential at that time.

However, leg problems and multiple wind operations derailed his progress, causing him to miss his entire six-year-old season. These issues stalled what had appeared to be a rise toward higher-grade company and forced patient management from his connections.

Training changes and recent form

After finishing his term with Jones, Deny Everything moved south to be trained by Graeme Anderson and Mike Love, for whom he won one race, including a previous victory at Ascot Park in June 2024. More than a year ago he joined Amber Hoffman’s stable, and before this latest win he had already put together four seconds and a third, indicating he was close to another success.

The big pacer is described as a kind, straightforward drive who responds when asked but does not overexert himself unnecessarily. Green noted that he remains relaxed in the run, does not pull on the reins, and only needed a strong call in the straight to accelerate and put the race beyond doubt.

Earnings milestone and meeting highlights

With this victory, Deny Everything’s stake earnings have now surpassed the $100,000 mark. The result confirms that, with careful management of his physical issues, he can continue to be a valuable and competitive racehorse.

Another key storyline from the Ascot Park meeting was reinsman Brent Barclay driving four winners on the programme. His successful drives came aboard Anita Mary, Bring On The Muscle, Always Be Bootie and Side Hustle, underlining a dominant day in the sulky.

Author and publication

The report on Deny Everything’s victory and the Ascot Park meeting was written by Bruce Stewart for Harnesslink.

“He’s a lovely big horse to drive. He doesn’t tighten the reins and does what you ask him to do. He only does what he has to – I gave him a bit of a yell and he took off.”

Author’s summary

A seasoned but lightly raced giant pacer, Deny Everything overcame past setbacks and a tough run to notch his ninth win, signaling there is still plenty of racing life and earning potential left in him.
