Grand Slam of Curling Kicks Off Historic Debut in Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe, California — For the first time in its history, the Grand Slam of Curling has arrived in the United States, bringing elite international competition to South Lake Tahoe. On Tuesday, Olympic athletes took to the ice at the newly renovated Tahoe Blue Event Center to open the round-robin tournament, which will determine eight playoff contenders.

The Grand Slam of Curling stands as a leading global series showcasing top men’s and women’s teams. Since 2015, equal prize money has been awarded across both divisions, with athletes this year competing for a total purse exceeding $375,000. Traditionally hosted in Canada, this edition makes history as the premier event’s inaugural staging on U.S. soil.

“I’ll tell you this — if the incredible people around Lake Tahoe fill this place, fill the Blue Event Center on Saturday and Sunday, I pledge that we’ll be back here within two years,” said Nic Sulsky, CEO of the Curling Group. “It’s up to the fans around the area.”

From November 4 to 9, thirty-two top-tier teams from seven countries — including Olympic medalists, world champions, and national titleholders from the United States, Canada, Sweden, Scotland, Switzerland, Japan, and other curling nations — are battling for the championship. The week’s excitement will crescendo with semifinals on Saturday, November 8, and finals on Sunday, November 9.
