Incline Village, a wealthy area at Lake Tahoe known for its conservative billionaire residents, is experiencing significant plumbing issues leading to potential water contamination. The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) issued a notice on November 3 regarding a pressure loss event in the water distribution system.
This pressure drop might have allowed contaminants, including fecal matter and disease-causing organisms, to enter the water supply. Residents are advised to boil water for at least three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
“An event that resulted in loss of pressure in the distribution system could have allowed contaminants, including fecal matter and disease-causing organisms, into the local water supply.”
The advisory cautions that untreated water may carry parasites, viruses, and bacteria that cause nausea, diarrhea, and other symptoms.
This incident echoes similar septic problems seen in other wealthy communities, such as a billionaire island in Miami during the summer, where local politicians intervened in municipal sanitation issues.
Despite the alarming notice, IVGID officials emphasized that the warning is precautionary.
“There’s no confirmation yet that fecal contamination actually made its way into the system.”
Meanwhile, bottled water sales, such as Saratoga Springs, are expected to rise as residents take preventive measures.
The prestigious Incline Village faces possible water contamination due to plumbing failures, prompting a boil-water advisory as a safety precaution.
