New Toyota HiLux Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal

Toyota’s top-selling ute has been leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, showcasing a bold new design for the latest generation. Images appeared on Instagram via bfmsoficial, sourced from a video initially published by Auto Societies before the embargo was enforced and the video was removed.

The leaked previews reveal a significant update to the HiLux’s appearance, although the platform and cabin structure from the A- to C-pillars remain the same as the current model. The front fascia features slim headlights, a squared-off grille, and sharp angular edges, while the rear presents a stronger look highlighted by a tailgate stamped with ‘TOYOTA’.

Several new HiLux versions have been spotted in Thailand, where the model is sold as the HiLux Travo. These include variants named ‘Prerunner’, ‘Overland’, ‘4Trex’, and an electric model called the ‘Travo-e’.

Except for the electric variant, the rest of the lineup appears to be powered by a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, likely the carry-over ‘1GD-FTV’ engine already used in Australia’s HiLux range. Australian government approval documents have confirmed the inclusion of this engine.

Author's summary: The new Toyota HiLux reveals a refreshed design with thin headlights and a robust rear, offering several variants including a diesel-powered lineup and an upcoming electric model.
