Paul Rodgers, founding member and frontman of Bad Company, announced via social media that he will not attend or perform at the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8. At 75 years old, Rodgers decided to prioritize his health over participating.
"My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health. I have no problem singing, it's the stress of everything else."
Rodgers shared on CBS Mornings that he survived two major strokes in 2016 and 2019, along with 11 minor strokes. He did not provide further health details in his statement.
Simon Kirke, longtime bandmate in both Free and Bad Company, had planned to reunite on stage with Rodgers during the ceremony, as revealed in the podcast Lyndsanity! with Lyndsey Parker. However, Rodgers later confirmed that Kirke would perform without him.
Rodgers and Kirke are the only surviving members from Bad Company's original lineup, following the deaths of bassist Raymond "Boz" Burrell and guitarist Mick Ralph over the past two decades.
