Dartmouth Football’s 21-Point Loss at Harvard Marks Largest Defeat in a Decade

In a major Ivy League matchup this weekend, Dartmouth football faltered in the final quarter, falling 31-10 to Harvard University. Reporters Jack Zipper ’28, Abby Byrne ’28, and Kyle Greason ’29 covered the story.

A Somber Scene in Cambridge

Outside Harvard Stadium on a cold November afternoon, the Dartmouth Big Green players were quiet and reflective after the tough loss to their long-time rival. Still in uniform, a small group of defenders gathered together on the field.

“Look ahead,”

said safety and team captain Sean Williams ’26, offering brief encouragement to his teammates before they broke the huddle and walked toward the locker room to pack up for the long ride home to Hanover.

Coach’s Perspective

“It is what it is,”

head coach Sammy McCorkle remarked.

“We didn’t play the game we wanted to. It's not the outcome we wanted.”

A Tough Start on the Field

Dartmouth fans filled the stands, still energized from pre-game celebrations, but the momentum didn’t carry over to the field. The Big Green defense allowed Harvard to convert three third downs on its opening drive, quickly falling behind 7-0. Offensively, Dartmouth managed only three plays before punting on its first possession.

“We came out excited, ready to go, and we didn’t have a great start,”

said starting quarterback Grayson Saunier ’27.

“We can’t be inconsistent … This is the first time we went three-and-out on the first drive all year.”

Author’s Summary

Dartmouth’s 31-10 defeat to Harvard exposed missed opportunities and inconsistency, turning a promising matchup into the program’s most lopsided loss in ten years.
