Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has released the 20th and final single from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, titled "Showbiz," features enigmatic lyrics that touch on the pressures of being in the spotlight.
The album's rollout was unusual: 17 tracks were initially released as singles on a free website before the full project was finalized. On November 7th, Williams officially completed the album with the release of "Showbiz."
Although many fans speculated that this album signals Paramore's breakup, Williams reassured them that the band is merely “on a break.” In "Showbiz," she sings:
“May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.”
The meaning of what is “ending” remains unclear. However, in another track titled “Good Ol’ Days,” Williams refers to herself as “Miss Paramore,” implying the band she started at age 15 still has a future.
Williams recently revealed she felt she was often “blamed for all the shit” leading to Paramore's several breaks. The new songs also hint at her recent breakup with Paramore's guitarist.
Hayley Williams concludes her solo album with "Showbiz," weaving cryptic lyrics about fame and personal challenges, while maintaining hope for Paramore's future despite recent struggles.
