Hayley Williams has returned with a new single titled Showbiz, coinciding with the long-awaited physical release of her album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The track features crisp drums, a vocoder-enhanced chorus, and shimmering synths, presenting a romantic indie pop vibe.
The production, handled by Williams and collaborator Daniel James, draws inspiration from Phoenix's smooth, syncopated grooves. Williams previously sampled Phoenix’s 2017 track “Fior di Latte” on her recent song “Love Me Different,” reinforcing this influence.
Although no official tour for Ego Death has been announced, Williams has hinted at one. On the album’s release website, a photo found in the “trash” folder shows a possible world tour itinerary including North American cities like Atlanta, Toronto, Nashville, Chicago, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles, as well as some UK and European stops. The photo also captures her dog, described as “objectively cute.”
“Showbiz is a more romantic indie pop offering with sticky production recalling Phoenix’s smooth grooves.”
Summary: Hayley Williams' new indie pop single "Showbiz" complements the physical release of her album and hints at an upcoming world tour with stops across North America and Europe.
