Wicked: For Good introduces two original songs alongside the existing tracks from the second act of the Broadway musical, offering a deeper look into Elphaba and Glinda's stories.
The sequel, based on the second half of the Broadway show, continues from the moment Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) performs “Defying Gravity” after discovering that the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud, along with her close friend Glinda (Ariana Grande).
Director Jon M. Chu revealed that the film will expand the narrative with new music, allowing a richer exploration of the characters' journeys.
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” Chu explained in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “These songs explore questions I've always wanted the stage show to address. Now, we get to take our time and explore them.”
Both songs were composed by Stephen Schwartz, the original Broadway musical's composer.
Fans had a chance to hear previews of these two new songs during the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC before the premiere of Wicked: For Good in November 2025.
Wicked: For Good enriches the story of Elphaba and Glinda with two new songs that deepen their emotional journeys and answer questions the stage show never fully explored.
