Knoxville’s Primal Scourge return with "Necromantic Plague," the second single from their apocalyptic debut album End of Eden, released on November 14 via Iron Fortress Records.
The Tennessee duo delivers a style of death metal that blends gritty decay with precise execution, creating a sound both raw and methodical. Guitarist and vocalist Austin Asmus explains the track as “sewage and filth come to life at the hand of a necromancer, destroying and consuming every living thing in its path.”
The band's dark fantasy horror shines through intense riffs, wild drumming, and an overwhelming mood of collapse. Asmus adds, “I think we were trying to go for a little bit of a chaotic feeling, but still stay in the same room as the other songs.”
This balance between chaos and control defines the entire album, portraying civilization’s last moments not as mere disaster but as a ritualistic farewell. The track was developed through a collaborative process, combining Asmus’ home-recorded riffs with drummer Rio Mariucci’s percussive edits.
"Necromantic Plague" captures a sense of spontaneity and intention, like rot gaining consciousness.
