Robert Pattinson recently shared his experience working on Denis Villeneuve's upcoming film Dune: Part Three, highlighting the challenges posed by the intense heat on set. The actor, known for roles in The Batman, Tenet, and Mickey 17, also stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the psychological drama Die My Love, released this week.
In an interview with IndieWire, Pattinson described shooting many exterior scenes in the harsh desert climates of Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, which made even simple tasks difficult due to the oppressive heat.
Pattinson is expected to portray Scytale, the face-dancer villain in this sci-fi fantasy installment. His character is reportedly involved in an assassination plot targeting Paul Atreides.
"When I was doing Dune: Part Three, it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything. And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis [Villeneuve]: ‘Whatever you want!’"
The extreme conditions affected Pattinson to the point that his mental focus became almost dormant, allowing him to simply follow the director's guidance.
Pattinson continues to take on challenging and diverse roles in major studio productions.
Robert Pattinson emphasizes how filming Dune: Part Three in extreme desert heat made mental focus difficult, yet the experience allowed him to fully immerse himself in Denis Villeneuve’s vision.
