After two decades as 9News Melbourne’s beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced her departure from the nightly bulletin. Her final appearance will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
Livinia joined the Nine Network in 1997 and has been the face of the 9News Melbourne weather segment since 2004. Over the years, she became one of the station’s most trusted and familiar presenters.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Nixon explained that her decision is driven by family priorities, as her two sons approach their senior school years.
Although leaving her regular weather duties, Livinia will continue working with Nine on the travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me.”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
After 20 years at the weather desk, Livinia Nixon is leaving her 9News Melbourne role to prioritize her family, while continuing with Nine’s travel shows.
