Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day 2025

On 9th and 11th November, Westminster City Council will honor and reflect on the sacrifices of veterans and service personnel.

Supporting the Poppy Appeal

Leading up to Remembrance Day, The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg, joined Royal British Legion volunteers at Marylebone Station to support the 2025 Poppy Appeal. He expressed gratitude for their dedication by presenting long service awards to volunteers.

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg, said: “As first citizen, it will be a huge privilege to represent the people of Westminster at Westminster Abbey on Sunday. In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, I have attended various events and was deeply moved each time by the shared sense of thanks and obligation from everyone present, from veterans to young cadets, honoring those who gave their lives in past conflicts and secured our freedoms.”

Remembrance Day Ceremony

On Tuesday, wreaths will be laid outside Westminster City Hall and across the country just before 11am, marking the moment the guns fell silent. This moment of remembrance honors both historic conflicts and those veterans living with lasting physical and mental scars.

Such ceremonies provide a powerful and public expression of ongoing gratitude.

“As we pause to think about historic conflicts and those former service personnel who continue to live with the physical and mental scars, it will be a powerful and public way to show our continued thanks.”

Summary: Westminster City Council and its Lord Mayor actively participate in ceremonies and initiatives to honor veterans and support the Poppy Appeal, expressing collective gratitude for their sacrifices and ongoing struggles.
