Lando Norris entered Sprint Qualifying as the slight favourite after leading the only free practice session held at Interlagos. The championship leader posted the fastest practice time by a narrow margin of 0.023 seconds ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, who seems to have regained speed after recent challenges.
McLaren showed significant pace with a six-tenths of a second advantage over the next fastest driver, Nico Hulkenberg of Stake F1.
Questions surround Red Bull and Ferrari going into qualifying, as Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Yuki Tsunoda ended practice in the bottom four positions. Notably, all four set their lap times using the hard tyre compound, raising uncertainty about their true pace for Sprint Qualifying.
