The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory on Saturday at 6:14 a.m., affecting the North Bay Interior Valleys, Southern Monterey Bay, and Big Sur Coast. The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m.
The NWS San Francisco office warns of very low visibility, stating:
Visibility one half mile or less in dense fog.
Widespread dense fog may reduce visibility to less than a quarter-mile, creating hazardous driving conditions.
"Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you."
"If possible, consider avoiding travel across the region. If you must travel, allow extra drive time to reach your destination safely."
This advisory signals widespread dense fog resulting in visibility dropping to a quarter-mile or less, posing significant travel difficulties. Extra caution or travel delays are recommended.
