The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Democracy and Public Policy Research Network conducted a poll of 800 registered Ohio voters last month. The results reveal a tight race between former Senator Sherrod Brown and current Senator Jon Husted for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat.
In the contest for Ohio governor, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy leads narrowly over former Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton and former U.S. representative Ryan, who has not yet declared candidacy. However, all these results are within a 4.5% margin of error.
“Ohio will certainly be on many people’s minds this time next year,” said Robert Alexander, professor of political science at BGSU and one of the researchers behind the poll.
As is common during midterm election cycles, the president’s party often faces challenges. The poll reflects a drop in President Donald Trump’s approval rating among Ohio voters.
“That might explain a little bit of what we’re seeing here,” Alexander commented, noting that dissatisfaction is largely focused on economic issues.
“A year ago, this was the big question: Who’s going to bring down the price of eggs?” he said, highlighting voters’ economic concerns.
Ohio’s political battleground remains intensely competitive, with close races and growing economic concerns shaping voter attitudes.
