NHL Rumors: Ryan O'Reilly and Devon Levi

New Jersey Devils Interested in Ryan O'Reilly

The New Jersey Devils have shown interest in Nashville Predators center Ryan O’Reilly. According to James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now, Elliotte Friedman mentioned on the DMase, Vingan & Daunic podcast that the Devils would like to add a player like O'Reilly to their lineup.

“And I also think that, you know, and I still do think there will be interest in O’Reilly when and if the time comes,” Friedman said. “Last year they asked him about Toronto. I don’t think he was crazy about that idea. He chose Nashville for a reason. I believe that a team like New Jersey would covet a player like O’Reilly. He’s a player that they have had some interest in for a long time.”

O’Reilly has two years remaining on his contract and holds a no-trade clause. If Nashville decides on a fire-sale, O’Reilly might consider a trade. He would fit well as the Devils' third line center with a $4.5 million cap hit.

Devon Levi's Trade Request

Buffalo Sabres goaltender Devon Levi reportedly requested a trade after failing to make the Sabres' roster out of training camp. This was reported by Craig Rivet and Andrew Peters on the ‘After the Whistle’ podcast and confirmed by James Murphy of Ratings.

“I haven’t confirmed that, but like I already told you, his name has been out there since he didn’t make the team out of camp.”

Summary

The Devils are keen on adding Ryan O’Reilly, while goaltender Devon Levi may seek a new team after being left off Buffalo’s roster.
