On Friday, November 7, Katrina Kaif and her husband Vicky Kaushal welcomed their baby boy. The couple, who married in 2021 after several years of dating, announced the joyful news on social media and received a flood of congratulations from fans and friends.
Unlike Vicky, who was raised in Mumbai by his father, action director Sham Kaushal, and mother Veena Kaushal, Katrina had a very different upbringing. She was brought up by her single mother, Suzanne Turquotte, a former lawyer who shifted her focus to international charity work. Because of her mother’s commitments, Katrina and her seven siblings moved frequently across continents, living in various countries during their childhood.
In several conversations, Katrina has described her upbringing as both challenging and formative. One key aspect of her early years was the absence of her father, who left the family when she was very young.
“My father is not an influence, he was not part of our family; my parents separated when I was very young and I have never met him since,”
the actor revealed in a 2008 interview with journalist Shoma Chaudhury. She credited her mother for teaching her to be compassionate and non-judgmental despite life’s hardships, emphasizing that her mother’s strength shaped her perspective on relationships and resilience.
Katrina Kaif reflected on growing up with her mother’s guidance and her father’s absence, sharing that her mother’s compassion and independence deeply influenced who she is today.
