Newcomer Spotlight: Abby Herndon

As the Malveaux era begins its second season on the Plains, several newcomers will take the field in Orange and Blue at Jane B. Moore Field for the first time. Among the 13 new players joining the Tigers this fall is left-handed pitcher Abby Herndon from Killen, Alabama. She comes to Auburn after spending her freshman season at Ole Miss.

Although she did not see game action in her first collegiate year, Herndon brings impressive credentials. At Brooks High School, she earned all-state honors three times and built a strong reputation for her pitching and leadership on the field.

Interview Highlights

When did you first start playing softball?

"I was four when I started tee ball. I was about six when I actually began playing with a softball."

Who has influenced your softball career the most?

"We would always be in the yard, hitting off the tee and practicing from a very young age."

Who was a player you admired growing up?

"I got her book when I was 10 and read it. She was always a player I looked up to and watched closely."

What advice would you give your younger self?

"To stay patient, keep working hard, and trust the process."
