Jennifer Lawrence has confirmed that the film What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is scheduled to begin shooting in 2026.
This movie will be Scorsese’s 27th feature-length production. It centers around an American couple traveling to a snowy European city with the intention of adopting a baby. During their journey, they face a series of strange events.
The film is adapted from Peter Cameron’s acclaimed 2020 novel of the same name. The book’s description highlights encounters with unique characters:
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
Besides Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, no additional cast members have been announced.
Lawrence revealed the expected start of production in an interview with IndieWire:
“Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there. Leo and I worked together on Don’t Look Up.”
The eagerly awaited Scorsese film, starring Lawrence and DiCaprio, promises a mysterious narrative of love and identity set against a wintry European backdrop, shooting slated for early 2026.
