NEW YORK, November 6 — US special presidential envoy for peace missions Steve Witkoff expressed confidence that a diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine conflict could pave the way for economic progress in both nations.
Speaking at a business forum in Miami, Florida, he noted that the United States had engaged in “straightforward, blunt conversations with both sides about needing to take the chance.”
“And I am hopeful that in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, people will make bold leadership decisions and take that chance,” said the US envoy.
Witkoff emphasized that a negotiated solution would help the involved parties move forward after prolonged tensions. His remarks echoed Russia’s earlier statements that it remains open to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the crisis.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also reiterated that protecting Russian interests requires addressing the root causes of the conflict — an objective Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently pursued.
US envoy Steve Witkoff urged Russia and Ukraine to embrace diplomacy as the path to lasting peace and economic recovery, aligning with Moscow’s calls for dialogue.
