Ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in February, Canada and Finland have unveiled their hockey team uniforms for the competition.
Finland enters the Winter Olympics aiming to build on their historic gold medal from the 2022 Beijing Games, marking the country’s first-ever Olympic gold in ice hockey.
Canada has secured gold in ice hockey nine times at the Winter Olympics but has not won since Sochi in 2014. The team did not medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Next year's Olympics are expected to be especially exciting because NHL players will be allowed to participate for the first time since 2014. NHL athletes competed from 1998 to 2014 but were excluded starting in 2018 due to scheduling conflicts, as the Winter Games fall during the NHL season.
“With the Winter Olympics coming during the NHL's season, the league will take a mid-season break to allow players to represent their home countries.”
This change is anticipated to enhance the competition's overall level and excitement.
