Mark Zahra secured four wins on Victoria Derby Day, including a victory on Observer in the feature race, amid a beautiful spring day at Flemington. Punters were delighted, especially by the well-backed favourite Sheza Alibi, who won the second race, the TAB Vanity over 1400m, delivering solid returns. The filly, under the guidance of Luke Nolen and trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, surged ahead in the straight to win comfortably.
Moody enjoyed an exceptional day, also celebrating his daughter Breann Harrington's success with Carlton, which secured a finals spot by defeating West Coast in Perth the night before.
In a display of opulence, Lexus, Crown, and Kirin each built elaborate three-storey marquees. Lexus featured three balconies offering expansive views of the track, while Crown presented a 500-glass champagne tower at its entrance, showcasing the luxurious celebration.
“The punters are happy, very happy,” reflecting the success of well-backed favourites on the day.
