Beloved Chef’s New Sydney Venue to Impress

The British chef famous for his love of linen and sauvignon blanc is launching his flagship restaurant in Australia. Rick Stein’s much-anticipated Sydney venue will open on December 1, marking his debut in the Australian metro scene and gifting locals an early festive treat.

Located above the sands of Coogee Beach, the restaurant is part of the extensive refurbishment of the InterContinental Hotel. Rick Stein At Coogee will act as the local flagship for Stein and his wife Sarah, who also run regional NSW restaurants Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens.

“ Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Stein commented. “ It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”

The inaugural menu, crafted by head chef Colin Chun from W Taipei, will highlight seasonal and local seafood. The dining space is designed to cater to both casual and refined experiences, complete with an adjacent bar.
