Toronto Reaches Major Milestone with 500th Public EV Charger Energized

Toronto has achieved a major step forward in sustainable mobility by energizing its 500th public electric vehicle (EV) charging station, improving accessibility for both residents and visitors.

Partnership Driving Electrification

The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA) and Toronto Hydro jointly celebrated the activation of this charger at Green P Carpark 504 on Willingdon Blvd. This addition strengthens what is now Canada’s largest municipally owned EV charging network.

Through ongoing collaboration, TPA and Toronto Hydro continue to expand charging availability across the city. TPA oversees the operation and management of this growing infrastructure, while Toronto Hydro ensures the power delivery necessary for Toronto’s transition to cleaner transport.

Commitment to Clean Mobility

Toronto Hydro first introduced EV charging stations in 2020 and has supported the city’s fast-paced growth in sustainable infrastructure. In 2025, the utility plans to connect over 4,000 EV chargers at homes and commercial buildings to secure reliable power for Toronto’s electrified future.

“Our mission is clear: to create a seamless mobility experience that delivers on Choice, Ease, and Speed for our customers. Purposeful expansion of our EV network is a catalyst for EV adoption across Toronto by creating accessible, reliable, and trusted charging solutions for city residents.”
